Meaning, the ceramic life will begin soon! As I sit at work in my cubicle, I am filled with anticipation. I've spent the past several months scouring local haunts for a big old Paragon kiln (whose previous owner gifted me hundreds of glazes... more on this to come), the internet for the perfect clay body (still testing and searching), and the web for patterns and a jumping off point for inspiration. I've hired electricians for kiln installation and cleaned out a dirt-caked shed and turned it into a beautiful and workable studio. My atelier dreams exist in real life!
But for now, school begins in less than six weeks, I will be leaving my full-time job in less than two, traveling to Panama in between, and developing oh so many bowls and plates while I'm at home. My dream would be to fund myself solely off my work as I transition to the interior design profession. Wouldn't that be nice? I have three years and counting to prove myself.
And if you are sitting there stumped and wondering - I chose "la vie en ceramique" because it captures a romantic play of words for an otherwise, very muddy lifestyle. I love paradox and Edith Piaf.
